Documentary film about the founding of NAMI

When Medicine Got It Wrong is the groundbreaking story of a small group of loving and courageous parents (including some from our own local NAMI chapter) who rocked the halls of psychiatry in the 1970's by publicly refuting the then popular theory that parents (especially mothers) were to blame for causing their children to have schizophrenia. Their activism helped revolutionize understanding, treatment, and brain research, and their stories reveal the origins of the tragic state of mental health care today.

Bring your family and friends to enjoy popcorn and sodas and be inspired by the story of NAMI's beginnings. After the film, we'll have a discussion and surprise "celebrity" guests.

Everyone who supports NAMI's mission - to improve the quality of life for people with mental illnesses and their families - is warmly invited and encouraged to attend.
